Typhi Dot test is done to detect IgM antibodies against Salmonella typhi, the bacteria that causes typhoid fever. Typhoid mainly spreads through contaminated food and water and manifests in the form of fever, loss of appetite, stomach pain, and diarrhoea.
This test usually shows results within 1-3 days of infection. It identifies the IgM antibodies which indicate a recent infection. As this test is not quantitative, it only detects the presence or absence of Salmonella typhi.
